Beginning a wonderful 33 day trip with my beautiful bride of 25 years. We left the miserable cold of Calgary yesterday

and had an uneventful trip to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It was interesting watching the passengers reaction when the pilot aborted our first  landing attempt at about 300 feet above the runway. I don’t understand why people get stressed about that type of thing. If things aren’t perfect for landing, I am more than happy to circle around until it is safe to plant that huge chunk of metal on the ground. Oh well, just a matter of perception I guess.

We boarded Celebrity’s cruise ship Equinox yesterday and got settled in, spending the afternoon before departure wandering the ship and relaxing.

Had a wonderful meal last night with two other very nice couples. One from Corpus Christi, Texas and the other from Aberdeen, Scotland. The haddock was excellent, along with the rest of the meal.

Woke up this morning to enjoy the 25th anniversary of my marriage to my beautiful bride Karen. A gorgeous day in Nassau, Bahamas. We were on the dock at 7:30 heading off to our SCUBA tour with Stuart Cove’s Dive company. We headed out on their boat to do two dives. The first at Mike’s Reef and the second at James Bond Wrecks. Weather was great and water was reasonably warm, no need for wet suits.pastedGraphic_2.pdf

We departed Nassau a little while ago and are starting the seven day crossing. I have three things I want to accomplish during this time. Work out every day, try every beer that is offered, and sample the entire menu at the Martini Bar. A guy has to have goals.

Welcome to our travel blog. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to say, "I'm out of here?" Well we did, and in 2013 we made it a reality. We sold or gave away all of our possessions other than what fit in our luggage and we set off on an endless adventure. Part of our goal is to share our experiences with others and hopefully provide some information, motivation, or just a moments escape. The general idea was to look for a place that would be ideal to settle down in. However in the meantime it is about experiencing life in different countries amongst different cultures and learning how to understand and appreciate each other. A large part of our time is spent housesitting which provides an excellent opportunity to experience more of the "normal" neighbourhoods as opposed to the tourist locales. Though we make sure to enjoy those as well. So through plenty of photographs and a running commentary come and share with us our life on the road.
