Supporting the Local Economy

So, enough of the overly serious stuff. Karen and I decided to take a ride yesterday and a walk today to check out some of the areas we had not been to, and some of the beach bars along the coast. Hydration is important after all.

We went for a 14km ride yesterday down to the the San Pedro Port Authority. A very nice ride through the residential section of south San Pedro. The roads were horrendous but passable with a bike or golf cart.

After checking out the underwhelming new development projects, port and residential areas it was time to head back along the beach and check out some bars.

Great name, even though it is owned by Americans now. Very nice people. Check out their Facebook page for pictures of someone you might recognize.

Today we walked north for a 7.5km walk. Great service at all the places we stopped. Some new friends and some well established ones.

Captain Morgan’s Resort. Great service, wonderful bar area, expensive beer. $7BZ. Most bars are $5BZ.

White Sand Resort. Quiet bar with normal priced beer.

Beautiful view of the water, as with every bar along the beach. Heaven.

Aji Restaurant and Bar. $4BZ beer at happy hour and great food.Jami is a very organized bar manager.

As always, the Palapa Bar is a favourite. If you get 6 beer it is $30BZ. Otherwise it is $6BZ a beer here.

After a couple of weeks here I was starting to wonder if I was not using my time productively or not. Then I realized I could be working for an entity fulfilling their mandate, or expanding my world and supporting local economies wherever we might be. I prefer supporting the people I can see.

Life is good.
