As we huddle down under our blankets and enjoy the brilliance of the fall colours outside the windows here in Albury, NSW it is a great time for reflection. We have had a very relaxing and enjoyable 5 week house sit here in Albury. As well as taking part in the weekly 5km Park Run we have also managed to get registered with the Red Cross and started donating blood which is rather satisfying.

Ollie checking out my work
I have been able to establish a comfortable relationship with Ollie whom we are looking after. He seems to enjoy looking over my shoulder and nibbling on my collar.

This has been a repeat house sit for us and we did several road trips while we were here a couple of years ago. Life in Albury and Albury Road Trips. This time we spent a lot of time just enjoying the city. Though we did get out and about a bit.

National Library of Australia
We did another epic drive (7.25 hours driving) to Canberra to see some places we missed the first time. Who knew a National Library could be so interesting. Great exhibits.
Anzac Parade
We took a walk up and down the Anzac Parade. There are memorials to the many services and conflicts that Australia has been involved in. It is a beautiful and humbling walk.
Diggers
The statues and memorials are incredible. This tribute to the Aussie Digger and the Australian Army was beautifully done.
Boar War
This memorial to the Boar War highlighted the sacrifice of the first international conflict the Australian people were involved with.

We also managed to check out the sights closer to home.

Fall Colours
We loaded up the bikes and visited Bright to try and capture some of the autumn colours. Unfortunately, I think we arrived about a week too early. Still a gorgeous area to explore.
Chinese Swing Bridge
While cycling we happened across this Chinese swing bridge at Wandiligong, near Bright. It is in memory of the large number of Chinese that came to the region to mine for gold.
Bright Parachutists
You never know what lies just around the corner. These parachutists started landing beside us as we cycled out of the forest.
Travelling Porsche Show
While we were here, a travelling Porsche road show was in Albury from Melbourne. We were able to get a close look at the latest offerings from Porsche and take one for a spin in the simulator. Good fun.

Still one of the things I love about this region is the plethora of paths and walks available.

Grey Teal
A wonderful place to watch birds is Wonga Wetlands. Great paths and birds galore.
Fall Colours
Plenty of small birds to try and photograph with great skies as a backdrop.

Doing this repeat house sit was the perfect reason to return to this incredible country. Wonderful friends, beautiful sights and many adventures to explore. We are very much looking forward to the next 11 months here.

Welcome to our travel blog. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to say, "I'm out of here?" Well we did, and in 2013 we made it a reality. We sold or gave away all of our possessions other than what fit in our luggage and we set off on an endless adventure. Part of our goal is to share our experiences with others and hopefully provide some information, motivation, or just a moments escape. The general idea was to look for a place that would be ideal to settle down in. However in the meantime it is about experiencing life in different countries amongst different cultures and learning how to understand and appreciate each other. A large part of our time is spent housesitting which provides an excellent opportunity to experience more of the "normal" neighbourhoods as opposed to the tourist locales. Though we make sure to enjoy those as well. So through plenty of photographs and a running commentary come and share with us our life on the road.
