When Karen saw a notice on Facebook about a special event upcoming involving planting trees in the community we thought we would check it out. It turns out this is a pretty big deal all around Australia. There are hundreds of areas in the country where people can go and take part. We were very fortunate in that one of the areas was just a few blocks away.
Communication was excellent and gloves and trowels were provided. The workers from the City of Wanneroo were very helpful and pleasant. It was fun to get out and work with community minded individuals and do something productive.
National Tree Day started in Australia in 1996 and has planted more than 24 million trees. The group at the park we were at put just under 3000 in the ground today.
