Wildlife from our Deck

Stormy Skies
Stormy Skies

Due to the rather damp conditions over the last week we have spent a fair amount of time in our place or reading out on the covered deck.

Despite the rain it has maintained  a steady 28C so it has not been too difficult to deal with. The nice thing about rain is you don’t have to shovel it. The time on the deck has also allowed us to enjoy some of the wildlife, mainly birds and some reptiles.

As well there are some larger birds on the shoreline and of course, dolphins playing just off shore.

And of course, the gophers of Central America, iguanas, are everywhere.

We have also found time to go to our favourite hangout, The Palapa Bar.

Welcome to our travel blog. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to say, "I'm out of here?" Well we did, and in 2013 we made it a reality. We sold or gave away all of our possessions other than what fit in our luggage and we set off on an endless adventure. Part of our goal is to share our experiences with others and hopefully provide some information, motivation, or just a moments escape. The general idea was to look for a place that would be ideal to settle down in. However in the meantime it is about experiencing life in different countries amongst different cultures and learning how to understand and appreciate each other. A large part of our time is spent housesitting which provides an excellent opportunity to experience more of the "normal" neighbourhoods as opposed to the tourist locales. Though we make sure to enjoy those as well. So through plenty of photographs and a running commentary come and share with us our life on the road.

  1. Beautiful birds, not so keen on the “resident alligator”! Sounds like you are settling nicely and I am really enjoying your blog.

  2. Adams, Dianna

Seriously – i am jealous – but so thrilled for you both

  3. Doug Merchant

Looks rough. I feel awful for you. I think I’ll shovel my driveway twice tonight, just to cheer me up.

  4. What beautiful creatures to share your days with. I’d be careful of the “beautiful alligator” though. We have been busy “shovelling rain” in this part of the world… but I’m sure you are all too aware of that fact 😉 Cheers my lovely friends!
