All packed up and ready to move on Canada Day.

We have departed our house sitting gig in Puntarenas and arrived in the cooler climes of San Ramon, Costa Rica. This new house sitting assignment is for only one week in a beautiful home just north of the city of San Ramon in the province of Alajuela. The owners were so kind as to come and pick us up in Puntarenas and drive us the 51km (31 miles) to their home.

Our new home is a beautiful house with an outstanding view out over the surrounding valley. As I went for a run this morning I discovered the beauty of the rolling valleys and friendly neighbours we will have for the next week.

We are caring for a wonderful dog and a gorgeous cat. As well, the yard is frequented by hummingbirds that will provide me with a challenge of trying to capture a photograph of these amazing birds.

The good news is they should only get better.

The weather is much cooler here, 24C (75F), with lots of clouds and consistent afternoon showers dropping anywhere from 1 to 3 cm (.5 – 1.25 in) of rain which is fine with us at this point.

Welcome to our travel blog. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to say, "I'm out of here?" Well we did, and in 2013 we made it a reality. We sold or gave away all of our possessions other than what fit in our luggage and we set off on an endless adventure. Part of our goal is to share our experiences with others and hopefully provide some information, motivation, or just a moments escape. The general idea was to look for a place that would be ideal to settle down in. However in the meantime it is about experiencing life in different countries amongst different cultures and learning how to understand and appreciate each other. A large part of our time is spent housesitting which provides an excellent opportunity to experience more of the "normal" neighbourhoods as opposed to the tourist locales. Though we make sure to enjoy those as well. So through plenty of photographs and a running commentary come and share with us our life on the road.
