Nature on our Doorstep

Yard Work
Now that spring has arrived, we are still waiting for a consistent sign of summer. We are busy getting into some serious garden maintenance. Always nice to have the right tools.

Having said that, we are still making sure we have time to take in the beauty around us. Being in this beautiful valley supplies us with an abundance of nature to enjoy.

Owl Family Portrait
Our owls, which kept us entertained through the spring, have finally moved on. It was amazing to watch the three babies grow.
Lunch Time
Even the more savage side of nature is fascinating. Watching the parents feed the babies lunch.
Local Attraction
The down side of the owls was the large influx of sightseers hanging around to catch a glimpse. Nice that people get to see some incredible nature, but also disappointing to see people who can’t seem to grasp the concept of boundaries, both the animals and peoples.

Every morning for a couple of weeks we were watched over as we walked down a particular hill. The momma coyote kept a close eye on us as we neared her den.
Coyote Cuties
Her offspring were always curious who was walking by. They have grown too big for the den now and have moved on.
Chinook Arch
The other thing we have been able to enjoy during this house sit has been the spectacular weather. Be it impressive Chinook Arches like this, or impressive thunder and lightening displays, Mother Nature has kept us entertained.

  1. awesome!! We had a fox den once near our house in a relatively suburban place. Surprised to see them there but the cubs were so cute and playful. The owls are amazing – how lucky to be in the right place to enjoy them. We too are surrounded by nature; the turkeys are fine but the darned deer eat all the lily buds just before they open. I am not happy with them 🙁
