Wow! When Karen told me we needed to start packing today I was honestly surprised. In the last 2.5 weeks we have had three amazing house sits with a liberal dose of challenges and wonderful discoveries.

While we were in Chertsey we enjoyed a wonderful variety of weather which made photography a joy. The view of the Chertsey Bridge was different every time we took the dogs out for a stroll.
A fantastic bonus of this house sit was the home owners made a vehicle available for our use. This dramatically opened up our ability to explore the surrounding area with our two loyal tour guides.
In addition to throwing endless sticks for Monty and Milly on Queen Anne’s Ride, we also came across a memento to to the High Sheriff’s Office celebrating 1000 years of service. 1000 years! Mind blowing the history that appears everywhere in this country.
On our trip to Windsor Castle we were able to drive down the very road that took Queen Elizabeth II on her final trip to Windsor. It was quite an experience.
On a road trip to Ockham Common we walked out to this semaphore tower. Built in 1822 it is the only surviving tower of a system that could transmit information from the Admiralty in Whitehall to Portsmouth in about 15 minutes. Incredible considering the times.
Like I said earlier about history around every corner. As we are walking through the bush we come across a family mausoleum. Built in 1919 it contains the remains of Mr. and Mrs. Samuelson and their daughter Florence. A beautiful area for ones final resting place.

After 2.5 weeks in Chertsey we were back to Bath for a short sit looking after a couple of very friendly Weimaraner dogs. It ended up being a bit of a challenge as the massive 10 month pup started having non-stop gastro issues. Ah well, into every life some rain must fall. We still had a very enjoyable time there and enjoyed the autumn weather.

We were incredibly fortunate to have a friend come down from Wales to visit us for lunch one day. She introduced us to Sally Lunn Buns. All I can say is it was worth the 20 minute wait in the rain for a table. The food was delicious, I recommend a savoury and a sweet bun. You only live once. And the company was exceptional.
Of course, as we close in on December there is no escaping the signs of Christmas popping up all over. Though the Christmas tree in front of the Abbey is large, thankfully it is understated in it’s decorations.
The interior of the Bath Abbey was a wonderful place to just sit back and soak in the history. No matter your beliefs, these are always great places for contemplation.

After our short stay in Bath we were off to Weston-super-Mare. A neat place on the coast of the Bristol Channel. The house sit Karen found is an absolute dream. We are looking after a very loveable dog and a surprisingly friendly older cat. Despite the nasty weather the last 3 days, the views are still wonderful and the house and the pets are very welcoming.

We did manage to get out before the weather turned and enjoyed a beautiful walk up the beach at low tide. It is so nice to be back by the water.
And with views like this it is an easy place to relax.

But alas, as I mentioned at the beginning, it is time to pack. The excitement is palatable as we break out the passports and swim suits.
