So here we are on the island of St. Vincent in the tiny Caribbean country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Honestly we never really had considered this as a possible destination, however when we were referred here for a two month house sit it was obviously meant to be.

When we realized we would be spending some time here I did some research and found the Dive Antilles dive shop. We still needed to complete our Wreck Divers course that had been disrupted by a cyclone in Mauritius, so we contacted them and have been quite pleased. The owners Kerry and James have been great with being flexible schedule wise and the employees Young and Brown are outstanding to dive with.

With my camera housing leaking and my GoPro having been stolen from my luggage in Africa, sadly there are no underwater shots of our diving here. It is quite nice though. Lots of fish and plenty to find in the muck. It is amazing how much more you see when you are not preoccupied with a camera.

By far, our favourite part of this house sit is the pool. With a fairly constant temperature of 30ºC and no air conditioning, it is our go to cooling off spot.
Between pool maintenance and relaxing, we have no trouble getting a couple hours a day of pool time.
We had heard it could be a bit buggy here at times. However we have a couple dozen of these fellows hanging out on our balcony. So between them and the wind daytime bugs are not a problem.
The only problem with the sit is the neighbourhood dogs. Apparently people have these dogs for property protection, but based on the fact that no-one even looks outside when they are losing their minds at every human they see I highly doubt the effectiveness of them. Other than just being bloody annoying.

On the plus side, the yard of the house we are looking after is wonderful. The array of fresh fruit available is simply outstanding.

We are fortunate that the home owners have allowed us to use their vehicle. Driving here can be quite an adventure, but certainly not the wildest place we have driven. It pays to keep your eyes peeled though. The license plate on this tractor trailer dump truck caused us a double take.
We were fortunate to be invited over to the island of Bequia for a day to visit with fellow house sitters. These were the people instrumental in arranging the referral that landed us our current house sit. The ferry trip over is a real carnival ride. I am glad we were pedestrians for the crossing as the deck hands didn’t seem too keen on securing the cars below deck.
Thank you to Yvonne and Mike.
The view from their house sit was pretty good as well.
Certainly a post on our sit would not be complete without a photo of Charlie. Not the most social cat, but once he accepts you he can be quite affectionate.

We are looking forward to our remaining 5 weeks here. We should have our tans properly locked in by that time.

Sounds like a great place to hang out for a couple of months!! (Besides the dogs, they sure can get annoying!)
