Aloha Canada, We Are On The Road Again

As we finish the final touches of packing in preparation for departure today I thought it would be appropriate have a look at our final few days in Calgary. Fall certainly is a wonderful time to do some sightseeing here. We spent a day on a newly refurbished St. Patrick’s Island and it was amazing. The City has done a spectacular job developing this island and if you are ever in Calgary it should be included in a walking tour of downtown. As well, due to Karen’s keen eye we were able to watch a couple of Great Horned Owls who joined us as we were eating our picnic lunch.

No need to go to the wilderness to find wild animals.

On the more metropolitan side we were treated to a wonderful evening of conversation, dining, and spirits at two very classy establishments, The Belvedere and Buchanan’s. I felt a certain attraction to the bar at Buchanan’s. Thank you again Alf.

Enjoying an evening of great conversation and outstanding scotch.

We rounded out our stay in Canada with a fantastic flashback. Having been able to enjoy a 2015 Ford Mustang GT convertible in the first week of our stay here, it was somehow fitting to get to go for a ride in the rumble seat of a 1928 Ford Model A around south Calgary enjoying the fall colours. What a great experience.

An authentic beauty. A 1928 Model A Ford.

One of the things we learned from our stint in Central America was we needed to reduce the amount of luggage we were hauling around. I was able to reduce my personal luggage weight by 97lbs so it was a step in the right direction.

We recognised that we needed to reduce our luggage load from Central America.

It has been wonderful touring Alberta and British Columbia visiting family and friends. It is however a bit sad and depressing at times. We realise what great connections we have here as well as how fortunate we are to have these people in our lives and how we would love to spend more time with them. It also makes us appreciate the support we have to continue our journey of discovery. Thank you to everyone who has made our time back in Canada so enjoyable.

Off we head to out next adventure.

Hawaii and Australia, here we come!

Welcome to our travel blog. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to say, "I'm out of here?" Well we did, and in 2013 we made it a reality. We sold or gave away all of our possessions other than what fit in our luggage and we set off on an endless adventure. Part of our goal is to share our experiences with others and hopefully provide some information, motivation, or just a moments escape. The general idea was to look for a place that would be ideal to settle down in. However in the meantime it is about experiencing life in different countries amongst different cultures and learning how to understand and appreciate each other. A large part of our time is spent housesitting which provides an excellent opportunity to experience more of the "normal" neighbourhoods as opposed to the tourist locales. Though we make sure to enjoy those as well. So through plenty of photographs and a running commentary come and share with us our life on the road.
