Rocky Mountain Beauty

Being back in our ‘home’ city has been great, in that seeing family and friends is wonderful and important. However, the city itself has been a bit depressing for me as the growth and change it has experienced has not been all positive in my eyes. So, our short pre-anniversary trip to Canmore was a much needed boast to my mental wellbeing.

The view from our hotel room balcony was a fantastic precursor to what was in store for us in this mountain haven. The Three Sisters is a mountain that holds significant importance to our family, and seeing it each morning was heart warming.
We were especially fortunate with the weather while we were there and it provided a wonderful opportunity to capture images of some of the best Alberta has to offer.
We spent our time wandering the great path system throughout the town.
When I saw this I laughed out loud. It just seemed to typify the Canadian attitude toward winter and the cold. Always optimistic.
The Bow River provides a great setting. So peaceful, yet powerful.
Even as we drove back to Calgary the mountains and river continued to provide images that uplifted ones mind.

I hope you enjoyed a glimpse of the beauty we got to experience. It certainly was good for us.

Welcome to our travel blog. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to say, "I'm out of here?" Well we did, and in 2013 we made it a reality. We sold or gave away all of our possessions other than what fit in our luggage and we set off on an endless adventure. Part of our goal is to share our experiences with others and hopefully provide some information, motivation, or just a moments escape. The general idea was to look for a place that would be ideal to settle down in. However in the meantime it is about experiencing life in different countries amongst different cultures and learning how to understand and appreciate each other. A large part of our time is spent housesitting which provides an excellent opportunity to experience more of the "normal" neighbourhoods as opposed to the tourist locales. Though we make sure to enjoy those as well. So through plenty of photographs and a running commentary come and share with us our life on the road.

Hello Karen and Peter, I heard great podcast from 2020 on the Expat Chat that you both spoke on . I’m trying to find more information on places I can join to house sit
and other resources to assist with this new lifestyle we want to embark on . Can you help with you favorite apps and resources to get started please?

    • We use trustedhousesitters.com as a great base. Depending on the regions we are in we also join more local platforms like aussiehousesitters.com , kiwihousesitters.com , or housesitterscanada.com . If you want to join any of these let us know as we can provide a code for some that will get you a discount to join. In exchange they give us a few months extension on our memberships (full disclosure). Where in the world are you looking to get a start?
